I created the first set of Spasmodica characters when I was still running POP!sicle zine, previously located at lickpopsicle.com until early 2002. Dogafunt was born first to serve as our mascot, appearing in new Lickpopsicle site designs that never saw the light of day. Well, actually I saw them, but the general public missed out because I wasn't satisfied with any of the new designs. And before I knew it, I decided that it was time to just let POP!sicle* melt away.

Here are some of the POP!sicle v.5.0 comps (click thumbnail to see larger size) featuring Dogafunt and a few other friendly faces:

I abandoned Dogafunt until December 2002 when I devised a new project that required his participation. The project consisted of a 12-month CD desktop calendar to be given away as Christmas gifts to friends and family. Additional characters were created to fill out the other months, and there came the collective known officially as Spasmodica (to be honest, I originally referred to them as "Curious Creatures" as seen in the cover below).

Upon the encouragement of my supportive, close friends, I decided to thrust Spasmodica onto the rest of the world for their consumption and subsequent enjoyment (I hope).

My name is Grace and I reside in Chicago. I like to make things with my doggie, Babbitt, my niece, Allison, and my hubby, Anthony. Spasmodica is a creative side project that I do for fun and hopefully for a little bit of profit. In case you're wondering, yes, I'm Filipino.
